Your weight loss program is not just about diet and exercise. It is also an education program. It is a planned program of learning about nutrition, how to set and achieve your goals, and how to cultivate patience. These will result in you losing weight successfuly, though gradually but yet permanently.

The best news of all is this — your weight loss doesn’t have to be a painful experience.

Educate Yourself
A weight loss program should help you set your weight loss goals. You should set reasonable and achievable goals. Be honest with yourself and accept the bad habit of yours that has resulted in your weight gain, eg your bad eating habits. You must then tell yourself constantly that you are committed to following your weight loss program to eliminate the unwanted fat for good.

You have to consider your personality type when choosing the weight loss program that will work best for you.

If you have some health problems, eg diabetes, heart problem, etc, consult your family practitioner before beginning any weight loss program.

Nutrition
Educate yourself about nutritional aspects of your weight loss plan. Regardless of how much weight you desire to lose, your eating plan should provide all the necessary nutrients to keep you healthy. Monitor your calorie consumption, but don’t be so obsessed with calories that you end up neglecting one or more of the nutrients that are essential to your health and long life.

An effective weight loss program will give the right amount of calorie and all the needed nutrition.

Exercise
Apart from controlled calorie and good nutrition, your weight loss program should include some mild or moderate exercise plans. Even if you are only able to walk a short distance to begin with, this will help speed up your weight loss. Walking will not only burn off a few extra calories, it will also improve your lung function and circulatory system, firm and tone your muscles. You will feel good even if your exercise fails to burn a single ounce of fat off.

Give it Time
Patience, persistence, perseverance! Don’t expect too much too fast from any weight loss program. Your overweight may have been the result of your years of indulgence in poor lifestyle choices. It is realistic to say that making fast changes, albeit positive ones, may not be easy. Don’t become discouraged if your weighing scale doesn’t show dramatic weight loss each and every week. You will reach your goals in due course.
